The 6 week schedule is as follows:
Module 1: Wage and Hour Compliance Part 1
We will review essential and highly targeted foundational areas of wage and hour compliance including independent contractor and employee classifications and employee time tracking and payment nuances, including meal period compliance. After this session, attendees will walk away with a blueprint to audit, correct, and optimize critical areas of their payroll and time-keeping practices to be prepared for audits and/or claim defense.
Module 2: Wage and Hour Compliance Part 2
Wage and hour law is complex and the most fraught when it comes to inadvertent mistakes and penalties, so this subject needs two modules! We pick up from Module 1, and jump into proper overtime calculations, deductions, paid time off requirements, and more.
Module 3: Employee Protections
A crash course in all-things “employee-protections” including discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. Attendees will walk away with an understanding of the kinds of actions and behaviors that lead to such claims, preventative and response tactics to avoid escalation, and general performance management tools and best practice guidance to help ensure air-tight defenses when making any employment-related decisions.
Module 4: Unionization Rights & Preparedness in an Organizing Age
An in-depth review of employee organizing protections, tangible and compliant avoidance tactics, and common mistakes to avoid if/when unionization efforts enter your business. Essential information for all employers in 2024, regardless of union status.
Module 5: Employer Medical Obligations with Leaves, Obligations, and other expanding Protections
In this session we will provide an overview of employer requirements when it comes to employee medical conditions, requests, and protections at work. This will include required time off that all employers must offer (Paid Sick Leave, PFL, FMLA, etc.), a review of employer accommodation requirements (including new Pregnancy rights), and accompanying workflows, paperwork, and best practices required and recommended to protect your business.
Module 6: Essential HR Infrastructure Building and Best Practices- Hiring to Firing
In this session we will provide the blue-print and tools to build out essential parts of your HR infrastructure to ensure compliance, streamline burdensome HR admin tasks, and provide maximum protection for your business. This will include outlining requirements and best practice suggestions from hiring to firing and all the performance and HR Management essentials in between.
